On 4 June 2019, the workshop Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer delivered by Dr. Shinji Endo – Deputy Director of Shinmatsudo Central General Hospital has successfully taken place at Hong Ngoc General Hospital, 55 Yen Ninh, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.
From Hong Ngoc General Hospital, Dr. Cao Doc Lap – the hospital’s Director, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy – Leader of nursing team, Dr. Nguyen Hai Anh and Dr. Nguyen Tien Son – the two doctors have been trained in gastrointestinal endoscopy at IMS hospital system – and other specialists from the hospital’s internal medicine, general surgery, and oncology departments actively partook in the workshop.
The mission of IMS Group included Dr. Shinji Endo – Deputy Director of Shinmatsudo Central General Hospital, Mr. Nagase Takashi – International Representative Director of IMS Group and IMS Representative Director in Vietnam.
The workshop also attracted great attention from nearly 70 doctors from Hanoi-based leading hospitals such as K Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Thu Cuc Hospital and more.
The workshop’s key speaker is Dr. Endo – Shinmatsudo Central General Hospital’s Deputy Director cum Senior Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department. He is Fellow of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Board Certified Trainer of The Japanese Society of Gastroenterology and General Clinical Oncologist of Japanese Board of Cancer Therapy.
At the event, Dr. Endo shared the current status of diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases using endoscopy and the diagnosis and treatment of cancer diseases. The doctor strongly emphasized remarkable notes for safety performing gastrointestinal endoscopy such as no mucus and residue left after the endoscopy, filling enough amount of air, focus lighting points, parent check for HP infection and thoroughly observing nasopharynx, esophagus, stomach, duodenum when inserting the endoscope, slightly blowing air into the gastrointestinal organ to detect the disease development, as well as the need of filling enough air into the organ after withdrawing the endoscope to detect the disease development on the greater curvature.
To make his presentation more convincing, apart from the theory, Dr. Endo provided audiences with real images and videos explaining the conditions’ signs. Particularly, in his examples of early screening of cancer, Dr. Endo instructed the participating doctors to observe the gastric mucosa, analyze the disease development based on the surface texture, color changes, vascular endothelial growth factors and natural bleeding as well as evaluate limits of diseases development to detect gastrointestinal cancer.
After the presentation of Dr. Endo, the workshop’s participants excitedly discussed related medical issues such as cancer recurrence and necessary recommendations for patients. In addition, Hong Ngoc General Hospital’s specialists shared some cases of cancer patients who have visited the hospital for examination.
Within the framework of his visit at Hong Ngoc General Hospital, Dr. Endo and the IMS mission observed 4 cases of gastrointestinal endoscopy conducted by Dr. Nguyen Hai Anh and Dr. Nguyen Tien Son at Hong Ngoc General Hospital.
The workshop “Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer” led by the leading Japanese specialists is a great chance for Hong Ngoc’s doctors in particular and Vietnamese specialists in general to acquire knowledge, access to the most advanced endoscopic methods and cancer treatment. Especially, the successful workshop has strengthened the partnership between Hong Ngoc General Hospital and IMS Group, thereby giving more opportunities to Hong Ngoc’s doctors to study in Japan.
